Clip 1 - 21 June 2018 - Law 11
New Zealand play France at Eden Park in Auckland. New Zealand are back in their own 22 and flyhalf Beauden Barrett boots the ball a long way downfield.
Maxime Médard, the French fullback, dashes forward to catch the ball which bounces out of his arms and into the arms of left-wing Rémy Grosso
The referee awards a scrum to France, where New Zealand seemed to expect a penalty and commentator says, with an air of infallibility: "It should have been a penalty, not a scrum."
Look at the ingredients.
- Médard knocks on.
- Rémy Grosso is in front of Médard when Médard knocks on. Grosso gets possession of the ball.
The but tells you there is an ingredient missing. There are no New Zealand players on hand to take advantage. They are 10 metres or more from the action with French players amongst them.
The right decision was made.
