Legoete has walked away with the coveted prize as he has done 14 times in the last 15 years, a remarkable achievement. The 41-year-old has 20 tests caps under his belt.

Legoete has retired from refereeing under the auspices of SARU but is retained on their panel of TMOs.

Ashleigh Murray was crowned as the top woman referee as well as the most promising referee in the union. She is on her way to the Dubai Invitation Sevens in December.
